Hi, I’m Keith Whitener and I want to tell you how we know what we know. I’m originally from Charlotte, NC. I got my BS in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale University. I’ve worked as a research chemist at the University of Colorado at Boulder and I’m currently an NRC Research Fellow in the Chemistry Division of the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. I’ve been teaching at the high school and college levels on and off since I was a junior in college. The one thing I’ve noticed is that, while scientific facts are interesting, the story of how scientists arrive at those facts is often far more interesting. So I started this blog with the hope that I could help scratch that itch for people, like me, who are curious to know how we find things out. If you have questions or comments, you can leave them in the comments section, or email me directly at keith@howdoweknowit.com.
